BraveGirl Emily

Hi! I’m Emily,

Although I’ve been a Christian since I was a young girl, it has only been in the last 7 years that I’ve really begun to know my savior and fall in love with him.  I wasted many years thinking that God only noticed me when I messed up, so I kept my distance and tried to perform my way into His good graces. What I’ve come to realize, however, is that while my Heavenly Father has an intimate knowledge of my sin, He pursues me anyway because His grace outweighs my dark places. That revelation makes me want to run (like a kid at recess with new sneakers) straight into His arms.

I still fail Him daily. I need His mercies every morning. His faithfulness is beyond what I can comprehend, but I cling to it anyway because it is abundantly and undeniably real in my life.

My life…is not glamorous. I’m a former elementary teacher and currently a stay-at-home wife and mommy. My house is in a constant state of chaos and dinner is rarely Pinterest-inspired. Being married for ten years has grown me, tested me, and made me a stronger woman. Having a daughter has given me a voice and a passion to speak hope and encouragement into young girls. My desire is for every Daughter of the King (including myself) to KNOW and absorb the truths found in Psalms 139.

I’m a recovering people-pleaser and I relapse weekly.  I have a tendency to compare myself to others and my insecurities tell me I don’t measure up. In those moments, I have to remind myself to take the focus off of me and fix my eyes back on God.
Just as it is true for all of us, God has uniquely created and called me for his purposes and I’m learning to give my talents and dreams back to Him. The prayer I have for my writing is that it always points you and others to Jesus.
And the prayer I have for you is that wherever you are in your walk with God, you will find peace, healing, and restoration for your soul as you bravely run your race for Christ!
